A subdomain is a part of a web address which is under the main domain name, for example name.example.com. Technically, even in www.example.com the "www" part is a subdomain because the fully qualified domain name is just "example.com". Every single subdomain can have its own web site and records and can even be hosted with a different provider if you wish to use a feature which is not offered by your current provider. A good example for using a subdomain is if you have a company site along with an online store under a subdomain where clients can purchase your products. You can also have a forum where they can talk about the products and by using subdomains as an alternative to subfolders you are going to avoid any chance of all websites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the site scripts. Keeping the websites separated is less risky in case there is a script security breach.

Subdomains in Web Hosting

Our web hosting plans will allow you to create numerous subdomains for every domain address hosted inside your account without any hassle. Assuming that the main domain address is added, it takes two clicks to set up a subdomain and pick what folder it's going to open (if different from the default one), set unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and more. All subdomains will be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for easy access and control. By right-clicking on any one of them and by using fast access buttons you can see the error logs, visitor statistics or site files for that particular subdomain. We have not set a restriction for the amount of subdomains that you can create with any one of our plans, so you can have as many as you wish.
