Access Log Manager
Access Log Manager - what role does it serve and how you can use the information you will find inside it.
An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files which were accessed by the guests of a certain Internet site. Every single file which was requested for whatever reason shall be listed, so if you have one webpage with three embedded pics, one video and one embedded text file, for instance, the access log will contain a total of six entries - one for any of the six files which were accessed when the website visitor opened the webpage. A log typically provides the file name and path, the date, plus the visitor’s OS, Internet browser and IP address. In some cases you can also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your website. The information an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a desktop machine and used to prepare reports on the efficiency of a website, besides the web stats which your hosting server may have generated.
Access Log Manager in Web Hosting
Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel has a section focused on various logs and the access logs are among them. When you sign in to your web hosting account and navigate to this section, you shall find a list of all the domain names and subdomains you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to press a button that will be available next to each and every domain/subdomain. If the option is enabled, you shall see a download link along with the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your personal computer and examine it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantaneously, so if you no longer need one, you can stop it with only a mouse click from the same section of the CP. You'll still be able to access the already created content by simply clicking on the Download link.
